Try Contemporary Indian Dishes at Tanjore, a New Eatery in Boca Raton

Samosas stuffed with potatoes, peas, black salt, cumin, and coriander and decorated with pomegranate chutney. Paneer cheese fresh from the tandoor oven with tomatoes and a dusting of turmeric. Crepes filled with slow-roasted duck and embellished with roasted spices. These are a handful of the revamped Indian eats that make up the long list of small plates at Tanjore, a contemporary eatery that debuted last fall in Boca Raton.

Make sure that you save room for the main course, though, because Tanjore's entrees are just as inventive and delicious. Order something from the traditional clay oven, like the jumbo prawns seasoned with turmeric, saffron, chives, and carrom seeds and topped with ajwain chutney (the mehrunisa jhinga). Or opt for a house specialty, such as the lobster masala in a tomato-butter sauce. Tanjore also boasts a large lineup of vegetarian dishes, many of which can be made vegan upon request, so there's something for everyone.
